Happy Summer

Lemonade must be summer's official beverage! We make lemonade almost weekly once it gets warm. The boys are expert lemon squeezers, which makes the process easier (and a lot more fun).

Here's our recipe:
  • 6-8 Lemons, squeezed and juiced (you can strain if you'd prefer a pulp free version)
  • 2 cups sugar and 2 cups of water, brought to a boil and then left to cool to room temperature (I put it in the freezer if I'm impatient)
  • Combine the lemon juice and the sugar water (aka simple syrup) in a pitcher
  • Add water until you have the strength you prefer (this really varies for us based on how many lemons we've used or if we decrease the sugar amount)

And if it's really hot, we turn our lemonade into a slushie by throwing ice and lemonade into the blender (and if we're feeling fancy we add raspberries or strawberries). We also have a Zuko pop maker which works well for making lemonade pops.
sorry for the out of focus picture
Happy Summer!!
