Have you seen the Bear and Mouse series of books? We were gifted A Visitor for Bear when N was 2 and he has always loved it. Later, A Bedtime for Bear was added to our collection and just recently we checked out A Birthday for Bear from the library (and we will be purchasing it - the boys love a good surprise ending). I noticed there is also The Sniffles for Bear, may have to purchase that one as well.
This is an adorable series about a grumpy bear who claims to not need friends or help in any way and a sweet mouse who doesn't give up. My boys think mouse is hilarious (and it's fun to read in a squeaky voice for mouse and a booming voice for bear). I'm a huge fan of giving books as presents and the birthday book would be a perfect birthday present (my boys laughed out loud when reading it).
