Strawberry Picking

Less than a mile up the road from our neighborhood is a strawberry/pumpkin farm. We live in a pretty busy part of the city so it's rather unusual and we know how lucky we are. Passing by it multiple times a day my boys are always asking if the strawberries are ready, and a couple of weeks ago they were! We visited with friends after school last week and the number of ripe berries was overwhelming (it even got this huge preggo bending over to pick, which is no small feat).

It was HOT! The boys turned red in the heat (not from a sunburn, just exhaustion), but we picked a container's worth of berries!
Slushies are a must when we visit. The boys were much happier once they'd cooled off with a nice strawberry one.
The toys and mazes are also a big attraction. Climbing on tractors, tires, bikes, and huge bouncy balls wore these guys out!
I had promised T we would visit the chickens before we left (and almost forgot)! He even put on his favorite Tea shirt with a chicken (or rooster) for the event. We stopped by right before hopping in the car.
Normally we make lots of yummy things with our berries like slushies and cookies, but this year we ate every last one perfectly plain! Apparently the peak of the season is this week so we may try to fit in another trip tomorrow.

  1. I love the strawberry farm! Looks like the boys had a great time picking fresh strawberries. I'm sure the fun and experience they had in there will be unforgettable. I hope you all get a chance to enjoy another trip like that soon. Thanks for sharing that, Kristen! All the best to your family! :)
